Cliche Verre

Cliches verre is a greek phrase meaning "glass picture". It was originally used by blackening a piece of glass from candle smoke. After the glass was fully coated, an artist would etch into the smog on the glass using a variety of tools and techniques. A piece of photo sensitive paper would be placed under the glass and exposed to the sun to create a print. Using a combination of plates and negatives, ordinary images can be transformed into abstract prints.
